April 2026
Cypress Circles, the sister piece to “Cyber Fibers,” explores the generation of curved line to form a circle with multicolored centers, all generating a random RGB value per frame. Almost identical in code, Cypress Circles divulges into heavier use of line and the effect line weight and line direction has on visualization and tiling; Similarly, Cypress Circles utilizes a PopMatrix function.

This piece utilizes the video feature in Processing, gathering live feed data and converting it to square pixels. I utilized multiple column pixel sizes in order to communicate the idea of “bodychecking” technologically; Additionally, this piece communicates a sense of changing oneself due to (or with) technology, conveying an altered sense of autonomy regarding physical appearance when using technology to project onself onto a screen. Each movement changes the pixel size per column, resulting in visual randomization in how the face appears.
